How do I declare pagico "bankruptcy"?

I haven't used Pagico for a while, but want to give it another chance. I want to start from zero. As is well-documented, I can't just create a new DB because everything from my inbox will show up. I understand that this may be a feature, but in this case it isn't. How do I clear out the inbox from the new db in a way that will leave previous dbs intact (i.e. with the possibility that I can use the inbox in the previous dbs if I decide to go back)? Similarly, I have all these tasks. And tags. And categories.

  Hi Jonathan,

  Thank you for reaching out! I’ll be happy to help. 

  I found your Pagico ID account using your email. Do you want me to clear out all your data from our end? Please let me know so I can get started on that. Once this is done from the cloud, you can proceed to clear out data on your end, including your Inbox with the following steps:

  1) In Pagico, use the menu commands Help -> Show Logs to reveal the logs folder
  2) Go back up until you arrive at the Pagico folder, inside your `/Application Support folder. Delete the "Pagico" folder.
  3) Go to your Home folder and see if you have a database document called Pagico Data.pgco. If so, you can delete it.
  4) Quit and relaunch Pagico. It'll prompt you to reinstall the backend, please proceed as instructed.
  5) Pagico will now launch with a brand-new database and blank Inbox.

  Further questions:

  1) Is the process reversible if I realize it was a bad idea?
  2) Can I open an old database later if I want to retrieve some old information?

  Hi Jonathan,

  Great questions! Yes, you can choose to keep your current database (just move it away or rename it, etc) and you will be able to open it up later on. But remember if you have Personal Cloud enabled, when you open up your old database, Pagico will start to upload these things to sync everything. We will adjust our designs to make this an easier choice (by asking you whether or not you'd like to enable data sync when you switch databases) in the near future for sure.

  The inbox clear cannot be reversed though.

  This makes some things about Pagico clearer.

  So if I understand this, only items that are in projects will persist. Therefore, if I want to keep my inbox items just in case, I should park them in a new project called, say, "old inbox items"? If so, is there an easy way to do this in bulk?

  Side comment/question that should probably be its own post:

  Is there an easy way to move an inbox item to a project individually?

  Currently, there are the following steps:
  1) select an item in the inbox
  2) rt click
  3) select "move to"
  4) select "other" because there are already too many destinations and "old inbox items" isn't visible
  5) select "old inbox items"

  This is too many steps.

  Happy to help!

  Yes, once you clear out your Inbox, you can't recover its content. And yes, migrating stuff into a project is a good way to preserve things.

  To do this in bulk, you can drag to select multiple items (in Inbox), right-click, then choose Move to... and select your desired project as the target. If this target isn't visible in the submenu, just go to the project and star it. All starred items will be present in the Move to submenu. I recommend you disable the Personal Cloud option first, before performing this step, in order to prevent causing large amounts of data sync.

  OK. Starring the project is a good trick. Dragging to select didn't always work as expected. Ctrl-A (select all) doesn't work as expected either (sometimes it selects all the text in Pagico), unless you click among the inbox items first. That seems like a bug.

  Also, 'Show Logs' works from the About Pagico page, but not from the Help menu.

  Finally, Pagico kept trying to sync the entire time. I disabled personal cloud, but I discovered that Data Sync was still enabled. Where is the data going if personal cloud is off?

  Hi Jonathan,

  I am so sorry for the lates response! If you Pagico continues to sync, try disabling the Data Sync option in the Preferences section. That should do the trick. Please let me know if this helps. Thank you!
