Note vs Appointment

I understand that an Appointment / Meeting is just a Note with a date. I would kinda wish I could write a note with a date and not have it show up in the calendar though. I'd like all of my notes to have dates so that when I scroll through a project or a contact I can see what date it was written but I don't want it to necessarily show up in the dashboard or calendar or get crossed off when the time for it is passed.  I think it may make sense for these to be separate entities.. Notes on one hand and Meetings / Appointments on the other. Just a thought.
