I've noticed that I get a numeral 1 badge on the print icon in the top menu bar almost all the time. Not sure what triggers the creation of the badge, but it remains there until I click to print and then cancel the print job. This clears the badge for a little while but it inevitably returns and stays until I clear it. This is occurring across multiple Mac laptop devices synced to my account.

That badge number actually indicates the number of items you're currently selecting (objects that has the blue border all around). It simply means that you're selecting X number of items right now, and clicking on the print button will let you either print the selected number of items only, or everything in the current view.
